The peoples of Ertt
BAROH
Baroh are humans who have adapted to living on the surface and do not suffer negative effects of sun exposure.
The adaptation of their skin to the strong solar radiation evolved during a millennium living on the surface. They are fierce, irascible and relatively primitive compared to other humans, as needed to survive in a very hostile environment. They are taller than humans but tend to live shorter lives.
HUMANS
Despite the hundreds of years since the cataclysm, many humans did not fully adapt to their environment, mostly because they chose to live underground to hide from solar radiation and the harsh environment conditions.
Because of the changed atmosphere and the intense radiation, the Humans learned to spend most of their time underground or inside buildings and structures to avoid sun exposure. This had the unfortunate effect of making them more sensitive to the Sun.
Smallans
After the cataclysm, some humans underwent a series of adaptations to the new environment and climate. With scarce food and water, being small (up to 1.25 meters tall) is more resource efficient.
Mallan are humans who evolved to be smaller in height, have slightly elongated ears and hard skin that protects them from the sun radiation. They are agile and sensitive, although physically weaker than other humans.
Ugro
The Ugro have gray skin, with brown or black fur covering most of their bodies. They evolved from gorillas and have spread across the planet, making them as common as humans. They are friendly, but they are also fierce warriors. They possess strong bodies, although they cannot use psychic abilities. They have their own language, but many of them also learn to use human languages.
Android
Fairly common in the old world, Androids are an uncommon sight. They operate with electricity. Their skin covers their entire body and is a flexible solar panel that charges their battery with sunlight. Some people don’t trust and even fear Androids. Androids don’t eat food or water, but do need to enter Standby Mode (sleep) for at least 6 hours to prevent losing their charge at night.
